UPDATE: One of the officers has died after being shot by suspect Minguel Hembrick. The other officer is in reportedly in grave condition. Hembrick is still at large.

Americus, GA – A massive manhunt is underway after two police officers were shot near Georgia Southwestern State University. Both officers are in critical condition and the suspect is on the loose.
One of the officers shot is with the university and the other is an Americus police officer. The shooting happened at the Griffin Bell Golf Course, according to NBC 11.
No students have been harmed in shooting. Two police officers are injured: 1 GSW Public Safety Officer and 1 local law enforcement officer.

The officers were searching for a specific suspect according to Americus Police Chief Mark Scott. When they encountered the suspect, shots were exchanged and both police officers were hit.
Both officers were transported to the hospital in critical condition.
It’s unknown if the suspect was hit.
A massive manhunt involving several local agencies is underway.
