UPDATE: According to a brief statement from Capitol Hill authorities, shortly before 10:00 a.m. a female suspect was driving erratically near the US Capitol when officers attempted to make a traffic stop which led to a pursuit.

During the pursuit authorities raised barriers to restrict the driver’s movement as she was driving the wrong way down a street. It was when she was confronted with multiple police officers and barriers that she rammed into officers, who then fires shots.
