UPDATE: Milwaukee Alberman Bob Donovan has told Fox6 News that the police officer shot has died from his injuries.
The shooting happened around 9:30 a.m. Wednesday morning.
Donovan says this is the third officer the department has lost this year.

A Milwaukee police officer has been shot on the city’s south side this morning.
The Milwaukee Police Department has not released any information about what happened, except calling it a “critical incident.”
According to Fox6 News, the officer has been transported to the hospital and a suspect is in custody.
The Milwaukee Police Department is investigating a critical incident that occurred on the South side of Milwaukee. MPD is available for the media at 11 am at 10th and Oklahoma.

Both local and out-of-state law enforcement agencies have chimed in on social media sending their prayers and thoughts to the wounded officer.
