Update: The all clear has been given and there was no evidence of an actual shooter found at Highline College, following reports of an Active Shooter. Tensions have been heightened ad schools and college campuses across the country following the massacre of 17 individuals at a Florida high school on Wednesday.
King County Deputies in Washington are on the ground in Des Moines after reports of an “active shooter” situation at Highline College.
“This is not a drill,” the college posted on Facebook. “Close doors, close windows. Police are responding to campus. Do not come to campus if you are on your way. More details to come.”
Students have been ordered to shelter in place as law enforcement begins the arduous task of clearing the campus, building by building, room by room.
The college was founded in 1961 and was the first community college in King County.
According to FOX4, the Renton Police are helping the Sheriff’s Office clear the campus. No casualties are reported at this time.
