A Kentucky police officer from the City of Owensboro was shot while investigating suspicious activity this morning.
According to Kentucky State Police Public Affairs Trooper Corey King, the unnamed officer was shot around 6:00 AM while on a call to investigate a suspicious person.
“I was told he is in surgery but doing okay,” King wrote on Twitter.
The officer was reportedly shot by a homeowner, who mistook him for an intruder. According to 14 News, the homeowner is being questioned at OPD headquarters and it is unknown if charges will be pressed.
