A British socialite and heiress who was once the confidante of Jeffrey Epstein is now in FBI custody in relation to her late friend’s sexual crimes.
Ghislaine Maxwell, daughter of media baron Robert Maxwell, was a former girlfriend of Epstein and allegedly helped him secure teenage girls for his own sexual deviancies.
According to NBC New York, Maxwell has been laying low since Epstein’s controversial death last year.
Epstein, who rubbed shoulders with politicians and high-level individuals from around the world, reportedly provided underaged girls for the rich and powerful to fuel their sordid desires.
Maxwel is accused of helping Epstein groom teen girls for sex, and was even named in a 2015 defamation suit by one of the victims.
Both the FBI and the US Attorney’s Office in Manhattan declined to comment.
