Five police officers are being hailed as heroes after they risked their lives to rescue a man from a burning vehicle.
The officers, who work in Texas’ Harris County, found a car ablaze after the driver, Jonathan Morales-Fuentes crashed into a tree.
Suffering a fractured ankle, broken leg, nose, eye socket and a torn shoulder, Morales-Fuentes was incapacitated and unable to escape the burning vehicle under his own power.
Body camera footage showed the apocalyptic scene as officers pushed towards the vehicle, grabbing a pole and using leverage to free the victim from the burning wreck.
According to the KHOU, Sergeant Lance Anderson noted that Morales-Fuentes was rescued at “just the right time.”
The video was posted to the Harris County Constable Precinct 5’s social media page.
Morales-Fuentes, who was fatigued at the time of the wreck, had nothing but praise for his rescuers.
“I barely made it out alive, I’m just thankful,” he said. “They saved my life.”
