Bodycam released: Oklahoma officer shot while chasing suspect on foot

Broken Arrow Police have released bodycam video of an officer-involved shooting incident last week where a suspect ran away from police and then began firing bullets at the pursuing officer.

According to Tulsa World, Officer Caleb Sherman attempted to pull over Corey Batt and two others early last Saturday morning. Police have not said why Officer Sherman was making the traffic stop.

At some point, Batt decided to make a run for it. Officer Sherman attempted to run after him and then had to duck for cover as Batt began firing bullets at him.

One of the bullets hit the officer in the leg, wounding him.

Officer Sherman did return fire. No word if any of his bullets hit Batt.

The two others in the vehicle ran away from the scene and have not been identified as of yet.

Sherman was taken to the hospital for treatment. He was released from the hospital earlier this week.

Batt was found in the woods soon after. It’s believed he turned his weapon on himself.
