The Broward County Sheriff’s Office has released the body cam video of an arrest involving a teenager.
According to WPLG, the teen’s parents claimed he was in a verbal dispute with another student when the school resource officer intervened. However the deputy claims that the student had his hands around someone else’s throat when he intervened.
During the arrest, the teen is seen yelling at and repeatedly pulling his arms away from the deputy as he’s being escorted out of the cafeteria.
The newly released video also shows that the deputy claimed that during their tussle, the teen tripped and fell on the floor creating a bloody gash in the teen’s head.
The family of the 17-year-old student is currently pursuing legal options to sue BSO for excessive force.
The Broward County Sheriff says he will stand by his deputy and that he feels the deputy acted within his rights.
