Newly released body camera footage has a South Florida police union, as well as social media users asking a Broward County politician to apologize for her vulgar outburst during a traffic stop.

Pompano Beach Vice Mayor Beverly Perkins was pulled over for speeding back in April for doing 15-20 mph over the limit.

However after the officer decided to let her go, with a warning and asked her to slow down, she called him back over. Perkins asked, “what’s your name?” To which the officer answered.

Then, Perkins stated her name, as well as her title as Vice Mayor of the City of Pompano Beach, followed by “you all need to find something better to f***ing do.” She then proceeds to drive off.

The Fort Lauderdale FOP’s president, Scott Mosely issued a statement referencing the incident.

“We suggest you apologize and then sign up for some ride alongs to see what [officers] do every day to protect the citizens of our great city,” he wrote. “As an elected official, you too are held to a higher standard and should know better. We suggest you obey the speed limit and seek anger management.”

Comments on social media ranged from praising the officer to calling for Perkins’ resignation.
