Oxnard police have released body cam video of an officer-involved shooting showing a teen with a large knife running at the officer, and then apologize for the incident as she’s treated for gunshot wounds.
According to the LA Times, the incident happened on May 3.
The officer was responding to reports of a disturbed girl found behind a fast-food restaurant with a 12-inch knife in her pocket.
The officer tells the officer not to reach for it. She then asks what will happen, the officer responded: “then something bad is going to happen.”
After multiple commands telling her to drop the knife, the teen then starts running at the officer.
He fired three shots.
While bleeding, in pain, and being arrested, the teen starts to apologize.
She is in stable condition at the hospital.
