The Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office has released body cam video showing a mentally ill man throw a four-pound wrench at a sheriff’s deputy and then charged at them with a hammer.

Fearing for their lives the deputies then used lethal force to bring the suspect, Juan Torres, down.

One of the deputies was hit in the head and injured by the wrench when he ducked to avoid it.

Deputies were called to the scene by Torres’ family in order to get him to a mental health facility.

According to ABC15, the family has disputed the sheriff’s office account of what happened.

The sheriff’s office is still investigating the incident.
