A law enforcement agency in Georgia has released body cam footage of an incident that resulted in a Clayton County police officer being shot by a young woman.
Officer Demika Lloyd, who was shot in Jonesboro on July 27, was addressing a call related to 25-year-old Aiyanah Prior.
Prior had been the subject of three separate calls and subsequent police interactions that day, as authorities believed her to be suicidal.
Lloyd’s encounter with Prior began with the officer trying to talk to and reason with her, only for Prior to pull out a handgun which led to a struggle where officer Lloyd was shot. Prior then fled.
According to 11 Alive, who obtained the body camera video from CCPD, authorities in Atlanta later encountered Prior and shot her.
Both Prior and Lloyd are in critical condition.
