Red Bluff Police have released body cam video showing an April confrontation between officers and a man swinging a large and heavy stick.
According to the Record Searchlight, police wanted to speak with the 42-year-old man who matched the description of a suspect.
Lane had a large stick in his hand and blew off commands given by the officers, including one for him to put his stick down.
Lane eventually tried to walk away from the officers and ignored them.
Officers tried two means of non-lethal force during the confrontation.
First, an officer fired four bean bag bullets at him that had no effect.
Then a second officer deployed a taser, that to had no effect.
A fatal bullet was fired after Lane took a swing at the officers with his large stick.
Lane was later pronounced dead at the hospital.
Red Blue Police and the Tehama County District Attorney are now investigating the case.
