A man was shot and killed by police who were called to a domestic violence situation at a San Bernardino residence on Wednesday, Dec. 28.

Around 7:40 a.m., a woman at a home in the 100 block of East 4th Street called police, explaining that her son had been hitting her daughter-in-law before screaming for help and disconnecting, according to the San Bernardino Police Department. A few minutes later, the woman called back and said her son had attacked multiple people in the home.

She warned police that the man, identified as Warren Marriman, was armed with a knife and had just injected methamphetamine, police said in a statement.

Marriman fled inside the home as officers arrived while multiple family members standing at the front of the house warned officers about the knife.

The officers entered the home where Marriman was then ordered to drop the weapon.

He fled out the back door and tried to run towards his family members with a knife still in-hand, police said. Additional officers arriving blocked his path and again ordered him to drop the knife.

Marriman began to charge towards his family members and the officers in front of the house. Two officers fired their weapons, striking Marriman, who fell to the ground.

He was taken to a hospital where he died from his injuries.

The investigation into the shooting is ongoing and anyone with information regarding the investigation was asked to contact Detective Hernandez at 909-384-5620.

  1. Somehow, I knew the mom would suddenly want the “knife shot out of his hand” or him to be tazed. Sorry mom, he was threatening people with a deadly weapon. He was crazed on meth. They don’t mess with their lives or yours. If your son had killed another family member you’d be crying that police didn’t do enough. I’m sorry your son had to die. It was the meth and the knife that killed him not the police. If he hadn’t taken the meth, he wouldn’t have picked up the knife and threatened others and wouldn’t have been shot.
