It was both a car and foot chase for one Marion County Sheriff’s deputy as he was able to arrest two men while finding a murder weapon one of the suspects threw into the woods during the pursuit.
According to the Marion County Sheriff’s Office Facebook page, the incident happened in January.
The deputy began chasing a red Dodge Charger after it failed to stop.
The deputy was able to pull a pit maneuver to spin and stop the car.
Quickly the deputy realized that one of the suspects had a gun in his hand. That suspect jumped out of the car and began to run through some woods and into a person’s backyard.
The suspect eventually surrendered peacefully.
After not finding the gun on the suspect, the deputy called in a K9 unit to try to find the weapon.
The K9 and his handler did just a short time later.
That weapon has now been linked to the homicide of an 18-year-old just three months earlier.
Another weapon and some marijuana was also found inside the car.
