A man wanted for murder in North Carolina was spotted and chased through a Florence County mall by a sheriff’s deputy, and the body camera recorded the entire arrest.
According to the Florence County Sheriff’s Office, on May 4th a Sheriff’s Deputy initiated a traffic stop to cite Jason Mcrae for violating the speed limit. Mcrae did not stop for the officer and instead pulled off into the Magonila Mall parking lot.
After the brief vehicle pursuit, Mcrae ditched his vehicle and was running through the mall and pulling his best parkour moves to lose the pursuing deputy.
During the foot chase, Mcrae pulled his handgun from his pants and attempted to aim at the deputy, though he never fired. The deputy responded by pulling his own weapon but transitioned to his taser when he realized he would not get a clean shot and would put mall patrons at risk.
The deputy successfully struck Mcrae with the taser to bring him down and arrest him.
Mcrae was brought in for processing where the Sheriff’s Office saw he had an arrest warrant for murder in Roberson County, North Carolina.
