A Las Vegas Police officer has been identified following a police-related shooting at a local Ross department store over the weekend.
The LVMPD reported on Monday that 47-year-old Officer Bryon Bunitsky was involved in the shooting 37-year-old Mohamed Mahmoud, a security guard who worked at Ross Dress for Less.
According to Las Vegas Now, Mahmoud reportedly got into an argument with a store manager and went to grab his firearm from his car. When he returned, Mahmoud opened fire on his manager, missing her. He also fired at a customer, missing her too.
As officer Bunitsky arrived, he was also shot at several times before taking cover and wounding Mahmoud from approximately 50 yards away.
During the exchange of gunfire, Bunitsky -who has been with the agency since 1999- managed to wound Mahmoud. The suspect’s condition is unknown.
