The body camera footage from a grisly incident that took place in Arizona earlier this month has been released, showing the kind of snap decisions that have to be made in the line of duty.
The nationally-covered Phoenix standoff that took place on February 11 left nine officers wounded and two dead, the latter being the suspect and the ex-girlfriend he fatally shot.
36-year-old Morris Jones invited the first responding officer into the home after police were dispatched to investigate a shots fired call, sent out by his mortally wounded girlfriend, 29-year-old Shatifah Lobley.
Upon entering the threshold, the officer was suddenly fired upon.
The wounded officer quickly made his way out of the residence, and a backup officer returned fire.
Jones attempted to escape in a vehicle but failed, ultimately forcing him to barricade himself inside.
At one point, Jones used his own baby as bait to lure police in, shooting more of them as they attempted to rescue the child.
While the child survived, several officers were wounded in the exchange.
According to the New York Post, Jones was eventually found dead inside of the domicile.
