Gunshots rang out over the weekend as police in Iowa were forced to open fire on a man charging at them with a knife, prompting police to release the body camera footage for the sake of transparency.
The incident took place in the town of Boone on Saturday, when a domestic call turned violent after suspect Timothy W. Anderson came barreling out the door, waving a knife and charging at the police.
“Officers attempted to retreat while Anderson ran out of the house at the officers. Officers told Anderson to drop the knife,” a statement read. “Multiple Boone officers then fired their weapons, striking Anderson. He was pronounced dead at the scene.”
All officers involved -identified as Captain Lonnie Hikiji, Officer Daniel Lynch, Officer Joseph Slight, Officer Connor McCuen, Officer Cole Hilsabeck and officer Seth McCrea- have been placed on administrative leave while BPD and the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation compile a report on the shooting.
According to KCRG, Anderson was threatening a female in the home prior to the police arriving.
