The Austin Police Dept is releasing more information about a fatal officer-involved shooting that happened early Sunday morning.
Police were called to an apartment complex around 3:45 am after a man reported that his wife had a weapon.
Asst. chief Troy Gay told KVUE that when police arrived at the scene a short time later, 26-year-old Micah Jester pointed the weapon directly at the officers and said, “Shoot me, shoot me.”
Jester refused to drop her weapon and the officers shot her. She later died at the hospital from her injuries, the local ABC station reported.
It was later discovered that Jester was carrying a replica BB gun.
The two officers involved have been placed on paid administrative leave, while internal affairs and the DA’s office continue their investigations.
