Austin, TX police asking for help finding missing officer in ’emotional distress’


    The Austin Police Department is seeking help locating a missing officer who they say is in “emotional distress.”

    The unnamed officer has been missing since Tuesday and a statewide search is ongoing for him.

    The officer’s vehicle was discovered near the Mexico border at Lake Amistad after Austin PD issued a statewide BOLO for it.

    Austin PD issued the following statement about the missing officer:

    “On Tuesday, April 25, 2017 APD was notified of an APD officer in emotional distress. Family members and fellow officers were unable to locate the officer. Due to his mental state, a statewide BOLO was issued for the officer’s vehicle. On the morning of Wednesday, April 26, 2017, the vehicle was located at Lake Amistad in Val Verde County. Local law enforcement agencies are actively searching for the officer. We will advise further as we learn new information.”
