An alleged terrorist attack is reported to have taken place on the US-Canadian border near Niagara Falls, including footage of a vehicle explosion.

The Rainbow Bridge Crossing checkpoint near Niagara Falls is the reported site of the explosion, which left at least one vehicle mangled and almost unrecognizable.

Two people are reported dead and several border crossings have been closed down.

According to the Associated Press, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said officials were “taking this extraordinarily seriously,” and the White House said President Joe Biden was “closely following developments.”

Multiple law enforcement sources have confirmed that it is believed the explosion was a deliberate act of self-sacrifice, though the motive is unknown.

The news comes a mere day after industry officials warned people to exercise extra caution while traveling during the Thanksgiving holiday, as US Federal Air Marshals were currently tied up with the assistance of processing illegal migrants at the United States’ southern border.

“We are ushering in illegal immigrants on the border and leaving the traveling public unsafe,” said Sonya LaBosco, director of the Air Marshal National Council, noting that the federal officers are far removed from their intended purpose.

According to Fox News, LaBosco stated that LaBosco said air marshals deployed in the region are “not doing law enforcement duties” and are “passing out water” instead.

LaBosco was also critical of Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas, who LaBosco feels is either looking the other way or enabling illegal immigration across the border, something that would lead to significant destabilization of the national security network.

“Secretary Mayorkas has said more than once that the border is secure, so he is not concerned with that. But we all know that the border is not secure. He will not call this a crisis. But now, not only is the border destabilized, our aviation is destabilized as well,” LaBosco said.
