Arrest warrant issued for Odell Beckham Jr. for slapping a police officer

A wide receiver for the Cleveland Browns football team had an arrest warrant issued by the New Orleans Police Department for slapping an officer’s buttocks during LSU’s national title celebration.

Odell Beckham Jr., a Browns player who was present for LSU’s victory over Clemson in the College Football Playoff Championship Game, was charged with simple battery after video of his hind-slapping antics made their rounds on social media.

NOPD issued the warrant, and comes a day after the video was made.

According to WKYC, the 3-time Pro Bowl wide receiver committed the simple assault after the officer urged LSU players to stop smoking cigars during their postgame celebration in the Mercedes-Benz Superdome.

“OBJ” was belligerent during the encounter, repetitively taunting the officer.

“Get the gat, get the gat, get the gat,” Odell said, attempting to dance.

Odell’s team states that they are on the case.

“We are aware of the incident and have been in touch with Odell and his representatives on the matter,” the Browns said in a statement. “They are cooperating with the proper authorities to appropriately address the situation.”
