Update: The armed woman who was arrested after a Nassau County police officer took her down with his SUV has been identified and charged.

Kiber Calderon, 31, of Brooklyn, was charged with three counts of menacing in the third degree, two counts of menacing a police officer, and multiple counts of criminal possession.

In June, she was arrested twice for burglary and trespassing charges in New York City, according to the New York Post.

Earlier: An armed woman in Long Island was apprehended by police after she walked into an intersection and pointed a gun at others and herself.

A Nassau County police officer drove a vehicle into a woman as she had the gun to her head, possibly saving her from suicide.

“It’s a loaded handgun that she’s waving around in the traffic, pointing at people that have got their children and their families in their cars,” said Nassau County Police Commissioner Patrick Ryder, according to PIX11.

Video of the incident showed officers rushing in to arrest her after she was struck by the police cruiser.

“They faced down deadly physical force against civilians and themselves, and they used their vehicle to stop that threat,” Ryder said. “Other option on the table is to take out the gun and shoot her. They didn’t do that. They chose an alternative option that they thought quickly to react and probably saved people’s lives, including their own, from any further injuries.”

The unnamed woman was taken to a local hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

The officer who struck her with the patrol vehicle was taken to a separate hospital to be treated for trauma.
