A recent doorbell camera video shows a group of armed men entering an apartment building in Colorado, highlighting the growing influence of the Venezuelan prison gang in the Aurora area.
The gang, known for its violence, has taken control of several housing complexes.
The footage, captured by a Ring Doorbell camera, shows a group of men armed with handguns and a rifle breaking into an apartment in Aurora, a suburb of Denver.
The Aurora Police Department has confirmed that they are aware of Tren de Aragua’s presence in the city and are collecting evidence to link the gang to local crimes.
However, the police have not provided further details due to ongoing investigations.
This video surfaced after the New York Post identified a leader of the Venezuelan gang, Jhonardy Jose Pacheco-Chirino, involved in violent incidents at the Fitzsimons Place apartment complex in Aurora.
The complex was recently shut down due to code violations that the owners said they could not address because the gang had taken over the building.
According to an apartment investor, the gang has “lost control” of several units in the area, renting them out to illegal immigrants under threats.
The situation has escalated from the gang merely hanging around the property to taking over vacant units several months ago, often while brandishing illegally-owned firearms.
The latest video, taken earlier this month, shows the gang’s activity just before a shootout at The Edge at Lowry apartment complex, which left one person seriously injured and damaged several cars.
Another video from a different time shows two men breaking into an apartment unit with a tire iron at the same complex, where illegal immigrants have moved in.
The increased crime at The Edge has left residents fearful: Cindy Romero, who lives in the building with her husband, Edward, described the situation as a nightmare.
The couple has fortified their apartment door with five locks and a security bar, saying they have to lock up every time they go out or go to bed.
Their car was among those hit by bullets during the recent shootout.
The Romeros have been trying to move to a safer place but have struggled to find help.
Shockingly, residents were told that since the building wasn’t condemned, they couldn’t get assistance.
A local council member has spoken out against the handling of the migrant crisis, which has led to the spread of Tren de Aragua gang members into communities like Aurora.
The council member expressed frustration with state and local officials, vowing to continue advocating for her community.
Aurora, located just east of Denver, has seen a surge in illegal immigrants and associated crimes linked to Tren de Aragua.
The gang, originating from Venezuela, has spread to multiple US cities, including New York and Chicago, after crossing the southern border.
High-profile crimes, such as the murder of Georgia nursing student Laken Riley and the shooting of two NYPD officers, have been connected to this violent gang.
