A suspected Arizona bank thief was captured after attempting to apply for a dispatch position with the very police department he was being hunted by.
32-year-old Alberto Saavedra Lopez was accused of stealing $5,000 from Bank of America during his tenure at the financial institution in 2016, prompting him to quit his job and move to the town of Cottonwood, Arizona.
As time went on, a warrant for Lopez’s arrest was put out and the suspected thief became elusive.
In 2017, however, Lopez applied to be a dispatcher with CPD, prompting investigators to invite him to an “interview” on January 4.
According to WSVN, Lopez was arrested for felony theft upon arrival and told that he was no longer being considered for employment.
