An aspiring rapper from north of Chicago has been sentenced to more than fifteen years in prison for illegally possessing a firearm in a music video.
31-year-old Ricardo Burgos -known as “Nation”- possessed a non-replica handgun while he was filming a music video back in 2016, which was situated in the northern suburb of Deerfield.
While Illinois (and the Chicago area in general) is notoriously unfriendly to gun-owners, Burgos would likely have been arrested in any state- as a convicted felon, he is not allowed to possess firearms.
According to CBS Local, Burgos could be seen holding two firearms in the video as he rapped about selling drugs, disrespecting law enforcement and committing violent acts.
Shortly after shooting the video, he was arrested by Chicago Police on January 8, after being caught carrying a .45 calibre pistol.
A less-than-model citizen, Burgos was charged with unlawful use of a weapon by a felon, resisting or obstructing an officer and multiple counts of manufacture or delivery of cocaine and heroin.
The firearm found on Burgos was stolen from a store in Indiana and used in a Chicago shooting a mere two days before the music video.
