The mother of a 17-year-old Alabama high school student says her son was brutally beaten in a vicious hate crime attack.
He was allegedly targeted for making pro-police statements on social media, after some kids reportedly wore Black Lives Matter shirts to school last week.
Brian Ogle remains in critical condition, with a fractured skull and trauma to the brain. “The best sound is to hear him snoring…we thought we lost him,” the teen’s mother said.
“Not knowing if my son is going to make it to his 18th birthday this month—I don’t know if anybody can understand what that feels like,” said Brandi Allen.

The beating took place in an abandoned parking lot on Friday night. Allen told the local ABC affiliate there were multiple people involved and all of them were African-American.
“This was most certainly a race issue and a hate crime,” Allen said.

Police have not confirmed whether Black Lives Matter was behind this, but Sylacauga PD Chief Kelley Johnson issued this statement following the attack:
“I understand that some of you are concerned that SPD or BOE will ‘sweep this under the rug,’ but any intelligent person should see that that is not possible…. I am not one to ‘sweep’ any crime under anything much less a crime as violent as this.”
Allen says she wants to see the suspects punished to the fullest extent.
No arrests have yet been made.
