A deputy was been shot, another grazed, and two more were injured in Texas last night after a shootout took place between Harris county law enforcement and a suspect.
Harris County Sheriff’s Constable Deputy Christopher Gaines is reported to have been wounded, a crushing blow to the East District Patrol Division in Humble.
Precinct 4 Constable Mark Herman told ABC 13 that the deputies responded to a disturbance around 2 AM in Eagle Springs when a man came out of a house and began shooting at deputies with a shotgun.
Returning fire, deputies soon found that Gaines had been hit multiple times in his lower torso and legs. He rushed to a nearby hospital along with the suspect, who was shot multiple times.
Herman reports that Gaines is in stable condition and is expected to undergo surgery at any time.
The other deputies suffered injuries as well- one deputy was grazed in the head and the other two were injured as they fled the scene.

Ironically, Gaines and the suspect are within spitting distance of each other in their laid-up state.
“The suspect ironically is in the same room right beside him. The suspect was shot, I believe the nurse said 22 entry and exit wounds. He is still alive,” said Herman.
The shooting is under investigation.
The Orthopedic Surgeons just finished a 3 hour successful surgery on Deputy Christopher Gaines at Hermann Hospital Downtown. The next surgery has started.
