A 26-year-old Maine woman was taken into custody after she went on a drunken driving spree, slamming into a police department.

The woman, who attracted police attention after crashing her SUV into the Portland Police Department garage, claimed she was following her vehicle’s GPS and became disoriented.

This, however, did not explain why she tried to drive down pedestrian stairs.

“She said she was following her GPS instructions but responding officers felt it was her excessive blood alcohol level. She was issued a summons for OUI,” PPD wrote in a Facebook post.

“We are fortunate that she didn’t strike anyone and this ended with just a small amount of property damage,” they added.

Portland PD has around 163 sworn officers and 59 civilian staff, making them the largest municipal police agency in Maine.
