Feb. 27–Two Chicago police officers were hurt during a car crash late Friday in the East Garfield Park neighborhood on the West Side.

About 10:25 p.m., a marked police squad car was going south on Kedzie Avenue when a Buick going east on Warren Boulevard failed to stop at the red light and struck the squad car, said Officer Hector Alfaro, a Chicago police spokesman.

After the crash, two male occupants of the Buick ran away, Alfaro said.

Two police officers were taken to a local area hospital for treatment. Both officers had non-life-threatening injuries, Alfaro said.

No one was in custody as a result of the crash as of early Saturday.
