The son of Alton Sterling is accused of raping an 8-year-old boy while taking on babysitting duties, according to the Baton Rouge Police.
According to arrest warrant records from the Louisiana law enforcement agency, 18-year-old Cameron Sterling reportedly took the boy into a bedroom and locked the door before he proceeded to rape him.
When questioned by the boy’s mother, Sterling denied that anything happened, but said he had some type of episode.
The Advocate reports that police were called shortly after and Sterling was booked into the Parish prison on a count of first-degree rape.
Sterling is the son of Alton Sterling, a black male who was shot by two BRPD officers in 2016 after brandishing a firearm during a struggle with them outside of a convenience store. Though the officers were cleared in the incident, his death set off protests and unrest in the Louisiana capital and across the nation.
Alton Sterling was also a sex offender, with a rap-sheet that included: carnal knowledge of a teen-ager (whom he impregnated), possession of stolen property, disturbing the peace, domestic abuse, and failing to register as a sex offender.
